Been searching for a reliable and effective steroid-free moisturiser to manage mild to moderate, but persistent, dry skin patches? Look no further! We review Diprobase Cream Emollient.

Eczema (also known as dermatitis) is a dry skin condition. It is a highly individual condition which varies from person to person and comes in many different forms.

It is not contagious so you cannot catch it from someone else.

It’s a known fact that up to 10% of the adult population suffers from eczema, with men and women equally affected. The first symptoms often appear during childhood, as about 20% of all children have eczema. As they get older, this condition normally improves or disappears completely.

However, Eczema symptoms can return later in life. Approximately one third of atopic eczema patients can also develop asthma and/or hay fever.

Treatment depends on the severity of the eczema. Mind to moderate eczema is usually treated with products that moisturise the skin (emollients), and products containing mild steroids.

Diprobase Cream Emollient falls within the former category, and the manufacturer (Bayer) describes their product as follows – “used to treat red, inflamed, damaged, dry, or chapped skin to protect raw skin areas. If you are suffering from a skin condition such as eczema, and your skin is dry, this cream can be applied to prevent your skin from drying even further. Low in sensitisers and irritants that may aggravate eczema. This friendly formula is free from artificial perfume, SLS, lanolin, and parabens”.

Having been suffering from small, persistent patches of dry, red, itchy skin (mainly hands, elbows, feet and ankles) for the last 18 months, I have found Diprobase Cream Emollient to be the most effective moisturiser I have ever tried.

What I especially like about Diprobase is the thick, soothing, creamy barrier it creates on the skin Other creams I’ve tried absorb in five minutes and then my skin feels dry again, but the effect of this cream really lasts (particularly useful where contact dermatitis is a problem).

Regular use keeps my skin hydrated over long periods of time, which is essential for managing persistent dry skin.

I would go so far as to describe it as the single most effective moisturiser I have ever used, and it doesn’t sting ?

In short – this stuff really works!
