We recently tested the Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector for a week on location in the Gulf of Finland, where the wind chill factor was -3C and in the rain and snow!

Well we’ll tell you soon, but before that here’s a bit of background information on the humble hemp seed!
Hemp seed oil comes from the seeds of the hemp plant, which is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species. However, hemp used for skincare products does not contain “tetrahydrocannabinol (THC),” which is the component that contains psychoactive properties.
It’s one of the oldest crops in the world, hemp was originated in Central Asia and carried by travellers and traders to India, China and Europe, where it was cultivated for food, oil and medicine.
Hemp seed oil is known to be full of elements that essentially act as food for your skin, leaving it nourished and healthy.
Amongst its many known health positive attributes in terms of the look and feel of your skin are: plumping tired, dry skin; providing long lasting moisture; balancing oily skin; calming the skin; reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, its suitability for all skin types.
As its made using hemp oil, the Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector has a bit of an unusual smell (not whiffy), but that’s just the smell of hemp (think patchouli)– it’s not at all unpleasant, just different, and the smell doesn’t linger; anyway, if that’s really a problem for you, just use it at night before turning in (then wake up in the morning with nice baby soft hands ?).
We can tell you for sure that this is fantastic for protecting your hands from becoming dry and sore. Just massage a little into your hands each time after washing, or indeed at any time, and as often as you want.
We found it great too for those little patches of itchy dermatitis, and it smooths wrinkles (added bonus).
And what about for those little but extremely painful cracks on you thumbs around the nails during the autumn and winter? Marvellous!
The Body Shop uses only Community Trade hemp in its Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector; and of course, the Body Shop is completely against all animal testing.
