Mont Blanc was founded in Germany in 1908 by stationer Claus-Johannes Voss. It began as a company dedicated to the production of fine stationary, writing utensils and other luxury accessories for the dedicated writer.
The company began expanding its interests in 1935 by embracing the creation of leather goods, but hit a snag during the WWII era when many of its production facilities were destroyed. After rebuilding, the owners paired with the Dunhill Company in 1970, leading to the creation of its first fragrance.
Their recently launched Montblanc Legend Night was created by perfumers Antoine Maisondieu and Olivier Pescheuxis. It’s the latest addition to the Montblanc Legend triumvirate of fragrances, which includes Montblanc Legend and Montblanc Legend Spirit (reviewed by WNH&BR earlier this year).
In our view, the perfect fragrance for those sunset to dusk drinks about town with friends – think of a sophisticated evening filled with sparkling, intellectual conversation and lively debate.
Even the bottle, although still sporting the house’s black and white codes and the snow-capped Mont Blanc, has an individuality, style and personality of its own, with its rich, reminiscent of wood, cognac brown hue, deepening to black along its gradient.
