Take a few moments to think about how much packaging you use in a day – your morning coffee in a takeaway cup, your lunchtime salad all nicely boxed up, or the little plastic pot (with its own disposable spoon) of your favourite yoghurt?
It all adds up, but just imagine the collective impact on the planet if we all cut back on just a little of the packaging we use every day?
If you haven’t used a naked, solid shampoo before, this could be your hair product ‘road to Damascus’ moment (it certainly was for our reviewer), and at the same time contribute towards saving the planet in your own small way.
If you’ve never used a solid shampoo bar like Lush New Shampoo Bar with cinnamon, clove and peppermint before, they are a doddle to use. Simply stroke the solid shampoo down your hair a few times to lather it up, or rub the bar between your hands to create a lather.
Gently massage it into the scalp and hair, as you would with a liquid shampoo. Rinse out and condition if your hair needs that little extra TLC ?. Just leave your bar out to air dry, ready for its next use.
It’s not at all like using soap, so don’t be worried about it slipping out of your hand.
Lush also do a nice little silver tin to keep the product in when you’re travelling.
Our reviewer had never used solid shampoo before and she was initially sceptical, but the resulting shiny and soft hair spoke volumes – amazing! After only a couple of seconds of use it bubbles up and produces a gorgeous fluffy, lather, which is just as impressive as (if not more so than) any proprietary bottled shampoo.
The product itself is totally natural and contains cinnamon, clove and peppermint, which are there to stimulate your scalp. Cinnamon leaf and clove bud essential oils are used together with peppermint to increase blood flow under the skin, stimulating the hair follicles. An infusion of nettle and peppermint helps to stimulate the scalp and promote healthy hair. The rosemary soothes and calms the scalp.
Our reviewer said that this was the first shampoo bar she’d ever bought and that it most definitely will not be the last.
