The Body Shop Hemp Heavy Duty Lip Care contains hemp seed oil (Community Trade hemp seed oil from France) in abundance, to soothe and hydrate, helping to protect your lovely lips from the elements. Whereas many lip balms can irritate the lips, we loved the way it performed on sensitive skin (it is dermatologically tested – not on animals ?). It nourishes, softens nicely and lasts a long time, being a little more on the ‘heavy-duty’ side. It gave our tester’s lips a lovely natural looking sheen too.
Ingredients are: Hydrogenated Coconut Oil (Emollient/Hair Conditioner), Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil (Emollient), Beeswax (Emulsifier/Emollient), Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax (Stabiliser), Tocopheryl Acetate (Antioxidant), Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Oil (Fragrance/Essential Oil), Panthenol (Skin/Hair Conditioning Agent), Retinyl Palmitate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient). So, as it contains Beeswax, it isn’t vegan.

LUSH Key Lime Pie Lip Balm is, on the other hand, suitable for vegans. If you’re a fan of all things citrusy then you’ll love the smell of this lip balm, from the moment you open the little round tin – yes tin – it’s not your traditional swizzle tube dispenser, but it’s kind of cute.
The balm itself is an attractive green colour (key lime – obvious really), with a hint of glitter sparkle. Once applied it stays on your lips and does leave them feeling silky soft and smooth. Our tester found though that it needed to be applied more regularly than the Body Shop Hemp Heavy Duty Lip Care to keep them hydrated, so possibly less suitable for the really cold, dry weather, and better for the spring/summer (this could be due to the fact that it’s vegan and does not contain beeswax).

It isn’t by any means cheap, especially in relation to the Body Shop Hemp Heavy Duty Lip Care; however, overall, it’s a great product, and the smell is divine, but for protection in the winter months we favour the Body Shop Hemp Heavy Duty Lip Care.
